tax and spend, the recipe for a failing economy

this is based on the assumpton you are not paying your fair share so we can enact more entitlement programs.

If the Democrats get their way on taxes, the top combined tax rate would soar to 62 percent, warns economist Stephen Moore of The Wall Street Journal.

WSJ’s Stephen Moore: Tax Rate Will Soar to 62% If Dems Aren’t Stopped

Now that i have your attention, essentially this means that if you have a job and you pay taxes, you will be paying a lot more.  Next, to give you a point of comparison, in the 80's when the us economy was steadily growing and seemed to be expected to go on forever, we received a highest marginal rate of 28% from Ronald Reagan.  This created one of the biggest economy growths in us history.  Our advantage was we had gone to lower taxes when everyone else we traded with had gone to higher taxes.  Do you get the picture so far?  And now for something completely different.

Now taxes abroad are falling while U.S. rates are set to rise. “What all this means is that in the late 1980s, the U.S. was nearly the lowest taxed nation in the world, and a quarter century later we're nearly the highest,” he explains, even without the proposed increases to come.

all of this and we are arguing on weather to raise our debt even more with the resultant additional raises in taxes.  Do these people have an end in sight, or is it 'just send it all in and well decide what to give you'?  isnt that what Russia's approach was, and we can now see how well that worked out.

so, we pay them so they can MAYBE pay taxes?

We all knew that government handouts were a bad idea.  This just goes to prove it along with the other thing we all knew, when people talk about giving away someone elses money, theres corruption involved.  So, to sum up, the General Accounting Office of the federal government knows that some 3,700 companies owe back taxes amounting to $754 million dollars, and then let the bailout committee give them $24 billion in total.  This sounds like tax fraud to me, why not arrest them, seize the businesses, and get back the money owed in taxes plus the handout as well.  Somehow, that seems to be what happens to us private citizens when we do not pay taxes and ask for a little help from the government.   Its definitely time to return to equal under the law, and this definitely is not it.

O'bamaoeing or out of business?

_iceUrlFlag=1.jpgNow obama figures he can run Boing better than the people who are currently operating the business.  Of course, that means he will have to take time out of that other unimportant job he has.  He has decided to put union labor in charge of policy decisions for companies, while not working at those companies.  Now he is law-suiting the right to run a business into the hands of big government, and we all love how they handled the savings and loan crisis, or the wall street crisis, the health care crisis, and now Israel.
His main concept seeming to be' do it my way or else', in defiance of known business practices , the responses of the economy, or even the constitution.  Even ignoring what he will try to regulate next. government approved cereals for your kids perhaps, this may leave Boeing with the choice of becoming an arm of the government, or doing what many businesses have done, and closing their US portion of their companies.

Mo Money

_iceUrlFlag=1.jpgYou may remember the cartoon character who was always wanting more money, but never seemed to have any.  This describes Washington, Obama wants to tax his way out of the money problem, Geithner just wants to print more money, and we end up paying for it.  Although, this time around it may be different, there seems to be a real interest in making our government live within its means this time.  We had the balanced budget amendment a number of years back, but that was promptly and quietly changed in the following years so that the requirements didnt have to be followed.  This time the borrowing limit, similar to a credit card limit, is being argued over and it is a significant policy item that can be watched. So if we are vigilant it will not be quietly changed during the next crisis that is manufactured as a distraction. This, if it happens and we do get our government under control, may be the beginning of a mature and stable united states that will endure and provide stability and leadership for the world.  If not, we will become another bankrupt nation of people preying on each other to get a leg up.  Quite possibly within our lifetimes.

rising taxes to solve our problems . . .

I have to wonder, these politicians keep speaking of raising taxes and americans not paying enough.  When is the last time you or i had the ability to go to our workplace and say ' i dont have enough money for xxx, so you have to pay more ' ?  I have heard virtually no discussion of reducing costs.  you know, spend money within out income like you and me.  The last time i decided i wanted to purchase something, i had to make the decision of what to do without so i could save up the money for the purchase.

So my question is, why do we let the government do this?  If the government is in debt, use the same answer that is used by everyone else in the country - SPEND LESS.   yes, this will mean reducing all government paychecks, not just the hourly employees as florida has done with its teachers.  Start by cutting all salaried employees pay by say 15%.  After all, the majority of the salaried workers are administrative, meaning they do not perform the services that are being argued over.  Our government, like our businesses in the 80's have gathered too many administrative political payback jobs that can be done without.

healthcare ?reform? . . .

At this point, the white house has handed out over some 1700 plus waivers to the new healthcare program to avid the big point that is supposed to fix our healthcare system - mandatory health care purchasing.  They have gone to unions, corporations such as Mcdonalds, and so forth.  Now we are down to handing them out to the white house favorite businesses.  So how much of the workforce has now been exempted at this point i wonder.

More importantly, if this healthcare reform is supposed to fix our medical system, in part by including all us citizens, why are there ANY waivers?  To me, this is evidence that this program is not about fixing the medical system, but rather about more government control of out lives and our wallets.  It also raises a big fundamental question about government and its basis of authority.

This system doesnt prevent or prohibit behavior that will injure other people, which i am sure we all agree with in principle.  But rather, mandates that you go out and do things that you may or may not have chosen to do on your own.  This goes FAR beyond regulating a society for purposes of safety where the government acts as an entity to interact with other nations, defends our borders and interests, and regulates some activities to prevent those actions from harming others.  This law steps into the process of giving you no choice in your actions and controlling what you will and will not do for purposes other than not harming others.

So how do you like being a serf that does things on command?  This is the very type of government control that we left europe and fought the revolutionary war to get away from, and now, some people that think they are smarter than everyone else are trying to create it here too.
