healthcare ?reform? . . .

At this point, the white house has handed out over some 1700 plus waivers to the new healthcare program to avid the big point that is supposed to fix our healthcare system - mandatory health care purchasing.  They have gone to unions, corporations such as Mcdonalds, and so forth.  Now we are down to handing them out to the white house favorite businesses.  So how much of the workforce has now been exempted at this point i wonder.

More importantly, if this healthcare reform is supposed to fix our medical system, in part by including all us citizens, why are there ANY waivers?  To me, this is evidence that this program is not about fixing the medical system, but rather about more government control of out lives and our wallets.  It also raises a big fundamental question about government and its basis of authority.

This system doesnt prevent or prohibit behavior that will injure other people, which i am sure we all agree with in principle.  But rather, mandates that you go out and do things that you may or may not have chosen to do on your own.  This goes FAR beyond regulating a society for purposes of safety where the government acts as an entity to interact with other nations, defends our borders and interests, and regulates some activities to prevent those actions from harming others.  This law steps into the process of giving you no choice in your actions and controlling what you will and will not do for purposes other than not harming others.

So how do you like being a serf that does things on command?  This is the very type of government control that we left europe and fought the revolutionary war to get away from, and now, some people that think they are smarter than everyone else are trying to create it here too.
