drug testing and special privilege

Well lets see, the last time i applied for a job i had to undergo drug testing.  Theres this little idea called the 'Drug Free Workplace' that has pretty much encouraged everyone to require drug testing as a part of the application process.  Now, the ACLU and Peter Walsh say that its unfair to have government employees tested.  I am wondering , if this is invasion of privacy, where were these folks years ago when this idea started?

Gov. Rick Scott signed the law asking job applicants to submit to drug testing earlier this week. The ACLU is asking a federal judge to immediately suspend the executive order signed by Scott in March that requires all agencies to set up random drug testing protocols for existing workers and require new hires to submit to drug tests as a condition of their employment, the Herald reports.
